Level 20: Oberon Iron Mine

Oberon: "Well, go thy way; thou shalt not from this grove till I torment thee for this injury."

A Midsummers Night Dream, Act II, Scene 1

Introduction:

Ready for some more proximity mine navigating? You will see robots with proximity mines all over this level. All the keys are held in robots with proximity mines, making the keys harder to obtain. Just keep your eyes open for the robots containing the keys.

Warnings:

Opening Room

The principal enemies in this room are Gopher Robots and Medium Lifters. If you have a fusion cannon, this part will become easy, as most Gopher Robots and Lifters will be destroyed with one charged shot of the fusion cannon.

There is a Class 1 Driller hidden in a secret room. The door leading to the secret room is opened by a trigger point.

If you go up the arched areas and leave or if you go down the corridor leading to the blue door, the robot generators in this level will activate, forming more Gopher Robots and Medium Lifters.

The key is inside a blue Gopher Robot. If that is the only enemy that you destroy in this area, destroy that Gopher Robot....

Blue Key Zone

The yellow key is hidden inside a yellow drone that drops proximity mines. This key should be considerably easier to obtain because the drone can be destroyed with a missile.

When you first enter the corridor, you will come upon a junction. Go up through the ceiling and you will enter a room with a Plasma Cannon.

This area is dominated by Class 2 Drones, Class 1 Drones with mine capabilies, and an occasional Green Platform Robot. The Vulcan Cannon or the Plasma Cannon will be useful here.

To get to the yellow door, you will have to find a room that contains a energy generator. This room has a secret door as indicated on the map that cannot be opened. Drop a proximity bomb and enter the door nearby and leave by the same door. Hopefully you will see 1,000 points added to your score....

Yellow Key Zone

The red key is held in a red drone with mine capabilities. Again, the enemy can be destroyed by a missile.

This area is divided into three layers. You will see most of the enemies in the upper layer. This area is dominated by Class 1 Drones and a occasional Green Platform Robot.

The exit and the red door is located in the lower layer. Be aware of the location of the exit...it is fairly obscure.

The hostages indicated on the map may only be accessed via the reactor room.

The passageway leading to the red door is guarded by a Medium Hulk. You will have to destroy it in order to get to the red door.

Reactor Room

Upon entering the reactor room, you will be attacked by the two Green Platform Robots residing here. In addition, the generators will immediately activate, forming Small Hulks, Medium Hulks, and Cloaked Medium Hulks. It is suggested that you destroy the Platform Robots first, then attack the Hulks.

Once the Hulks are destroyed, blow the hostage door from where you are currently. Do not rescue the hostages yet...the robot generators will immediately reactivate. Then, enter the passageway leading to the reactor. The generators will reactivate.

There are two drones with mine capabilities in the passageway. You may attempt to destroy them if desired.

The reactor is guarded by two Super Hulks. You should destroy them before attacking the reactor, which is located inside a niche.

Once the reactor blows, go FAST and rescue the hostages as quickly as possible. Then, head for the exit QUICKLY, since it may take some time before you can find the exit....
