Level 16: Hyperion Methane Mine Guiderius: "Money, youth?"
Arviragus: "All gold and silver rather turn to dirt, as 'tis no better reckon'd but of those who worship dirty gods."
Imogen: "I see you're angry. Know, if you kill me for my fault, I should have died had I not made it."
Cymbeline, Act III, Scene 6

Introduction:

You're out of the good dreams, and have popped back into a nightmare. This level is the first to have Platform Robots. You will also see Super Hulks, Class 1 Drillers, and various lifters in this level. After you enter the blue door, you will be swamped with enemies in every direction. Just be careful...

Warnings:
Opening Room

This is the opening room. It is rather deceptive...the amount of enemies in here is very little. It is guarded by two Medium Hulks and two Gray Platform Robots. Just use any weapon and destroy them all.

In the ceiling of this room is a door. Open it and you will come into a small weapons cache full of vulcan ammo and missiles. It is guarded by several Class 1 Drones. In one end is a secret door on the floor leading to more missiles, a cloaking device, and a Medium Hulk.

You may take either lower path to grab the blue key.

Stairstep Junction

This junction is fairly important because the blue door is located here. The blue door is fairly difficult to find, and it is located in the passage indicated on the map. It is recessed into the wall with no lighting around it, so keep your eyes open for the door.

The junction is guarded by several Advanced Lifters and one Super Hulk. You may have to destroy the enemies in order to move around freely into the room.

You may access the corridor indicated to grab the blue key. Any passage will do; however, the passage I have indicated is probably the most direct route.

Blue Key Room

The blue key is guarded very minimally. Just destroy all the enemies using any weapons desired.

There is a door located in the floor. This door leads to an area full of cloaked Medium Lifters. I recommend going through the area since you may be able to get some more weapons and the lifters almost always drop cloaking devices. Just watch out for the occasional Class 1 Driller lurking around the side corridors.

You will have to head for Staircase Junction to access the blue door.

Blue Key Zone

Once you have entered the blue door, you will come under attack by Advanced Lifters. Just destroy them as quickly as possible.

To access the yellow key, you should go down the pit that is closest to the blue door. The two pits are contigous in the area with the blue door and a weapons cache at the bottom of the pit.

After you have grabbed the yellow key, come back up to the level with the blue door and head for the corridor indicated to access the yellow and red doors.

Yellow Key Room

If you went down the correct pit, you should encounter little opposition to the yellow key. Just destroy the drillers and the lifters in the pit, and grab the yellow key in the side passage.

If you went down the wrong pit, the robot generator there will activate and form more lifters. This does not pose much of a problem...just destroy them as they come out and the generator will deactivate.

The weapons cache(not shown on the map) contains many missile powerups and energy generators. If you attempt the grab the powerups from this area, be aware that you will meet Super Hulks and Class 1 Drillers in the weapons cache. In my opinion, it is not worth going there.

After you have grabbed the yellow key, go back up to the level with the blue key and head down the corridor indicated. There will be three passages branching off to the left. You may take either the first or the third passage to access the yellow door. After the side corridors, there will be a dead end with some vulcan ammo and missile powerups.

Red Key Room

The red key is guarded by several Super Hulks, Class 1 Drillers, and one or two cloaked Medium Drillers.

It is recommended that you destroy the cloaked Medium Drillers first. They will drop cloaking devices. Once you grab their cloaking devices, destroy the rest of the enemies as quickly as you can.

Once you have destroyed every enemy in this area, you may then grab the red key. Return to the corridor from which you have entered this room. Take the second side corridor(it is a door). This is a shaft going down guarded by Class 1 Drones and Advanced Lifters. At the bottom of the shaft is the red door.

The hostages also are located here. You may rescue them now or after you have destroyed all enemies in the reactor room.

Red Key Room

After entering the red door, you will enter this room. The robot generators will activate, forming Medium Hulks, Super Hulks, and Class 1 Drillers. IMMEDIATELY go down the pits and into the red doors at the bottom of the pits.

There are several side passages around this area. Going down these passages is not worth it and not recommended. They are guarded by Super Hulks and Class 1 Drillers.

The exit is also located here. Note the location of the exit while heading down the pits.

Reactor Room

The reactor is guarded by a cloaked Medium Lifter, a Medium Hulk, two Green Platform Robots(!), and two cloaked Medium Hulks. In addition, the reactor room is rather small...maneuverability is restricted.

The cloaked Medium Lifter will usually attack first. Destroy it and pick up the cloaking device it drops, if it drops one. If it does drop a cloaking device, pick it up and destroy the Green Platform Robots, the Medium Hulk, and then the cloaked Medium Hulks. Once you are sure that all the enemies are destroyed, attack the reactor.

If the lifter does not drop a cloaking device, you will have to lure the enemies into the corridor leading to the reactor room and taking them out from there.

Once you blow the reactor, pick up the cloaking device in the back of the reactor room, then head for the exit.
