Level 14: Europa CO2 Mine Sicilius: "Thy crystal window ope; look out;

Cymbeline, Act V, Scene 4

Introduction:

Compared previously to level 13, this level is a good night's sleep. If played properly and with skill, you can regain much of your shields, lives, and weapons that you have expended earlier. In addition, the toughest enemies are far less compared to the previous level...there are more of the enemies that are characteristic of the earlier levels.


Warnings:
Opening Room

This is one of the roadblocks in the level as far as enemies are concerned, but this is a small roadblock, fortunately. :-)

When you enter the room, IMMEDIATELY turn left and head down the left fork. You will meet two Small Hulks. Destroy them quickly, and destroy the Medium Hulk at the door. Next, return to the opening room and go down the right tunnel as quickly as possible. Fire two homing missiles. This will destroy the Class 1 Drillers there, and then destroy the Medium Hulk guarding the door.

Next, return to the opening room and attack the Super Hulk at the red door. Destroy it using any method desired.

An alternative method the tackling the room is to take out the Super Hulk at the start at long range, then go and take out the enemies in the side corridors.

You will have to access either the left or the right fork door to continue with the level.


Blue Key Room

After entering the door, you will see a Super Hulk. Using the door as a shield, destroy it from afar. Then, enter the door and go down the three platforms, destroying all Small Hulks along the way. You may pick up the vulcan ammo in the middle platform if desired.

Once you have reached bottom, you will enter a cache of energy powerups and a secret door hiding a cloaking device. Pick these powerups if desired, and proceed on to either door. This will lead you to the room shown on the map.

Once you have entered the room, immediately slide down to the two doors at the bottom. DO NOT LEAVE AND REENTER THE ROOM. If you do so, the robot generator will activate, forming Class 1 Drillers, Small Hulks, Medium Hulks, and Super Hulks. In addition, if you enter the shaft containing the homing missiles, I believe that the robot generator will activate also(I may be wrong).

Enter any of the two doors at the bottom of the room. This will lead you to Delta Junction.


Delta Junction

This room is extremely crucial as you will have to pass through it to get all three keys. You will have to destroy all enemies in this room, which is guarded by several Small Hulks, Medium Hulks, two Class 1 Drillers, one Super Hulk, and a cloaked Medium Lifter.

If you are entering from the left, you will come upon the cloaked lifter and one Small Hulk. Destroy them with the fusion cannon(if you have it), and proceed on to the middle section.

If you are entering from the right, you will encounter several Small Hulks and one Medium Hulk. Destroy them with your fusion cannon(if you have it), and proceed on to the middle section.

The middle section is where most of the enemies are located. To get rid of them effectively, begin by firing two homing missiles, then slide back down. This will destroy either one of two of the drillers. Next, lure the Medium Hulk and the Super Hulk and hit them when they move into your sights. This will take them out as well. Use a homing missile to destroy the remaining driller, if it hasn't been destroyed.

The door in the middle leads to the energy generator. It is guarded by a Super Hulk. If you choose to use this generator, open the door, slide down to avoid the missile, and destroy the Super Hulk.

Go into the door indicated to get to the blue key.


Blue Key Room

When you go down the corridor indicated, you will come upon a door. DO NOT OPEN IT YET. Instead, shoot the wall abutting the door to your right. This opens a secret door. Quickly use two homing missiles to destroy the two Class 1 Drillers, then go down the passageway and grab the invulnerability. As fast as possible, leave the secret area and open the door that you have not opened.

Hurry quickly straight forward and head for the door ahead. Open it and begin destroying the Medium Hulks, the Spider Processing Robots, the two Class 1 Drillers, and the two Class 1 Heavy Drillers.

There is a Supervisory robot in the room that you are in. Destroy it and it will release another invulnerability. Save it for the moment, and continue destroying all the enemies.

Once you have destroyed all the enemies, pick up the invulnerability dropped by the Supervisory Robot and head for the two outer passageways. These passageways lead to the actual blue key which is guarded by a Super Hulk. Destroy the Super Hulk, grab the key and the smart missile, and return to the room above.

Next, pick up the cloaking device indicated on the map. Quickly return to Delta Junction, and leave the junction for the blue door. The robot generator will activate; just destroy all the enemies before they are fully formed.


Yellow Key Room

Once you enter the blue door, you will come upon a little maze...explore it until you have explored it all. This will enable you to recover your shields(there are two shield powerups hidden in this area) and allow you to grab the key.

The room in which the key is located is guarded by two Spider Processing Robots. Destroy them all before grabbing the key.

You will have to return to Delta Junction to access the yellow door.


Red Key Room and Hostages

Once you enter this area, you will come under attack by Small Hulks, and a Spider Processing Robot. Destroy them all.

Next, lay one or two proximity mines under the secret door under the shaft. Go backwards down the shaft, then go back up. The secret door will open, revealing a Super Hulk. Destroy it(the mines will help protect you from one homing missile) and grab the mega missile.

Then, go back down the shaft and using any method, take out the two Super Hulks, the Class 2 Drone and the two Medium Hulks. This will lead a clear path to the red key.

The hostages are located in two side passages in the top half of the shaft. Beyond the hostages are rooms which I will leave undiscussed...they are useful in way of powerups and very interesting.

You will have to return to the opening room to access the reactor.


Reactor Room

When you enter the red door, immediately go up the shaft and fire down. If you hit a cloaked enemy, destroy it. The shaft is guarded by a cloaked Medium Lifter and a Small Hulk.

If the cloaked lifter dropped a cloaking device, you're in luck. Grab it, fire two homing missiles to destroy the two Class 1 Drillers at the bottom of the shaft, use your homing missiles and any primary weapon desired to destroy the four Super Hulks guarding the reactor, blow the reactor, and go back up the shaft to the exit.

If the lifter did not drop a cloaking device, you are in for a ride. Go down the shaft and destroy the Class 1 Drillers with your homing missiles. Then, turn so you are facing the reactor and slide down. Fire every homing and concussion missile that you have. If you see the Super Hulks firing a missile, slide back up into the shaft. Note that this may not always work. Repeat until you have blown the reactor.
